Before you arrive
Two things to know
Maafushi is an inhabited island, so cover shoulders and knees away from the tourist beach. Alcohol is not sold on the island.
There is a marked bikini beach a short walk from the house, and a floating bar offshore if you want a drink.
Getting here
Two ways over from Malé.
Speedboat, about 35 minutes
A direct transfer from Velana International Airport, arranged through us when you book. Tell us your flight number and someone meets you in the arrivals hall with your name written down. Boats run through the day and into the evening.
Public ferry, about 2 hours
From the local ferry terminal in Malé, a few times daily and cheap. It does not run every day of the week, and it does not wait for late flights. Worth it if you are not in a hurry and want to arrive the way most people on the island do.
